Creative passion and Desire to Inspire book

Creative passion is simply, at its core, the purest light within you – whatever makes your heart sing, and takes you closer to joy. It is the love you have for your children, the way you braid your daughter’s hair, the breakfast you make, the flowers you grow, the students you teach, the customers you help, and the friends you support. These are all acts of creative passion, and each and every one of them matters – to your loved ones, and to the world.    ~ Christine Mason Miller

This is an excerpt from an article (“Everyday Passions“) that Christine Mason Miller wrote  as a guest blogger for Cherry Blossom Soup.  Christine has a new book coming out very soon called Desire to Inspire: Using Creative Passion to Transform the World.  I pre-ordered it because – hello! – that’s exactly what I want to do.  Plus, it has an interview with Tracey Clark.  Here’s a page layout with Tracey’s photos.

From Amazon’s product description: “In Desire to Inspire, readers will be introduced to 20 extraordinary women – writers, artists and entrepreneurs – all of whom share a unique example of how they create a meaningful life and, in turn, make a positive impact on the world. The stories and examples explore the roots of their desire to inspire and how they manage to pursue their passions in the midst of all the twists and turns life has given them. In addition to a beautiful collection of quotes, stories, and anecdotes, readers are given substantive, encouraging exercises aimed at supporting their own journey towards a meaningful, mindful life.”

Christine says, “The idea behind Desire to Inspire is that the world is best served, lifted, and transformed when we follow our creative passions and build a meaningful life for ourselves.”  I can hardly wait to receive this book mid-month!

Photo Friday

This little guy showed up on our porch for a visit.

We had a lovely rainy day here last week.

Our front lawn was covered with these little feathers, causing us to try to guess what caused their arrival.

Just after the rain, I found this reflection I thought was cool.  It spilled over from sidewalk to street.

This resonates hugely for me

“All is well.  You did not come here to fix a broken world.  The world is not broken.  You came here to live a wonderful life.  And if you can learn to relax a little and let it all in, you will begin to see the universe present you with all that you have asked for.”

~ Esther Abraham-Hicks

I’m pretty sure this is what my dad has been trying to tell me all these years.

A moment in time

We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment but it is transient. It is a little parenthesis in eternity. If we share caring, lightheartedness, and love, we will create abundance and joy for each other. And then this moment will be worthwhile.                                         ~ Deepak Chopra

Picture Inspiration: Weeks 37-39 TEXTURES!!

Picture Inspiration: 52 Weeks of Photocentric Creativity and Community

Catching up! These few weeks we are celebrating textures – the kind you can use with your images.  Kim Klassen posted an instructional video and some free textures for us to use.  It’s something I’ve been wanting to try so I was happy to have a chance to play.

Week 37: Texture Love

Use any image at all to play with. No rules! Experiment, play, and just try it out.

This was so much easier than I ever thought it was! Oh boy  am I in trouble now.

Here’s the original image:

Week 38: A Delicate Balance
There is a delicate balance between the image and the texture.  Do you feel like a textured image is better with another texture or a simple, smooth image is best?   Try finding a delicate balance.

A balance between the bud and the flower in the background. A subtle texture. Heaven!

Week 39: Leaving Textures

There is no shortage of texture this time of year.  Crackled bark, crinkled leaves… all the lovely and wonderful signs of the season! Use your angle and your light to accentuate the glorious and gritty texture you find.

OK gang.  I’m off to go discover more textures!
