June Life Book recap: Honoring & Emotions

“When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy.” ~ Rumi

I got a bit behind with my Life Book class and these monthly posts help me catch up!

“Honoring Your Feelings” with Tamara LaPorte

Tamara pointed out that many of us are up in our heads so much that we forget to breathe and notice how our bodies are doing.  That is definitely true for me.  I wonder what my rush is sometimes! Once I get through all those lists, then am I going to slow down???

We zoomed in to our feelings, gave them attention (even associated them with a particular color), so they would go away.  “Sometimes your feelings just need to be felt!” Give them a bit of space.

Drawing a 3/4 portrait was a great learning experience.

“Eyes are the Windows of the Soul” with Kelly Hoernig

No matter what we are trying to hide, the eyes always give us away. What word represents honoring yourself?

“Expressing the True You” with Mitsi B.

Michelle wanted us to use 6 papers taped together because it the work is bigger, we’d be able to pour more emotion out.  I decided to use one of my Salvation Army finds, so this one won’t be going in the final LifeBook book at the end of the year.  Maybe I’ll add a photo?

She invited us to “be a bit slapdash and just play and experiment.” So I dripped alcohol inks, added bunches of color, and had loads of fun.  Read more about this one in this separate post all about it.  I would like to give this away to anyone who wants it.

“Stencils, Masks, and More” with  Joann Loftus

First I scribbled my worries, fears, and anger onto the page.  Then I covered the words with gesso so I wouldn’t worry about someone reading them.  Next, I collaged images from magazines that represent me as a person or things that called to me.  The background is paint over the gesso and a couple of stencils.Silhouette collage processSilhouette head

So that’s it! All of a sudden it’s July and there will be 6 lessons… yikes.

    to go where you’re going,
the time and space and coaching to pour out your heart
    in color and texture
onto something that you can touch and share.
    Riches.
So glad and grateful for that
