Behind the Art: Journey House

Behind the Art with Christy TomlinsonI enjoyed Christy Tomlinson‘s Behind the Art workshop so much and I’m excited to share some of my canvases with you.  The class was chock full of videos about what supplies Christy uses and, even better, how she uses them in her art. She talked about markers and pens, stamps and rub ons, adhesives, paints, stencils, and so so so much more.  Over 5 weeks, Christy guided us in starting several canvases with different types of backgrounds.  You’ll see as I share more soon, but do check out the link above if you are in any way as in love with all these supply goodies as I am.

For this canvas, we divided it into grass and sky colors with a background of tissue paper and washi tapes.House background House background4

Then we added the house and fun details, finishing it off with rub ons and doodles.House bird detail2 House viewHouse roof detail House roof detail2House details House details2And here’s the final result:House finalThis is my favorite canvas from the class and I put it in our living room so I can see it often and feel good looking at it.  🙂

I placed that key there before I had such a profound connection with that thought. Hmm. Must have been there all along and ready for uncovering. Love when that happens!

I love seeing your creations! They are always so amazing – the colors and the messages in them!

  8. Wow, that is so gorgeous. It brings me feelings of joy and happiness. The words playful and whimsical come to mind when looking at it too. Love it!
