A “joy”ful giveaway

JOY1

“True happiness comes from the joy of deeds well done, the zest of creating things new.”
~ Antoine de Saint-Exupery

I made four of these canvas lettered signs last year and had hoped to sell them in my Etsy shop.  I gave one away to a local family who recently had an apartment fire and lost everything, and I would like to give another one away to one of you!

joy detailPlease leave a comment here telling us how you are going to make this holiday season joyful (and hopefully as low-stress as possible).  I’ll select a random winner by next Friday.

Best of luck!

Update: Since there were exactly 3 commentors, I sent each of them one of my remaining JOY signs.

Argh! I distinctly remember entering a comment, but I don’t think it went through. (Sometimes if I’m not signed in to Google, I’m taken away to sign in, and when I go back to the blog, my comment is lost, which must be what happened here.) Well, I’m very happy for the three lucky winners, because this JOY sign is beautiful and joy-FILLED! Happy holidays!

  3. Hahahahaha! The very idea of a holiday season NOT being stressful makes me LOL! I am in the midst of decorating and filling the kids advent boxes and have not even STARTED my shopping! Joy? Isn’t that the thing that comes Christmas Day when I get to collapse? Seriously, thanks for reminding me that I need to relax and en-JOY!

These are beautiful! I’m going to make this holiday season joyful by seeing the season through the light of my 4-year-old’s eyes. I like seeing the twinkling light when he discovers the magic of the season through the bright lights decorating the Christmas tree and nearby houses to the excitement of glimpsing his “Elf” every morning and seeing the shenanigans that his Elf has been through during the night. The time is a magical and special time as my son delights in the Santa hats on top of the cacti by the hospital. There are so many small moments of beauty that make his eyes light up in wonder, and those, in turn, make my holidays joyful. Showing the beauty of the season to a small child brings great joy. Thank you for such a wonderful giveaway!

Thank you, Amy! I’m so glad you commented. I completely understand what you say about seeing through the eyes of a young child. My daughter (5 on Monday) lit the Chanukah candles herself this year and was so proud of herself. It made me feel like I was experiencing the holiday so much more fully by hearing her enthusiastic singing. I wish you a joyful and peaceful holiday.

These are beautiful! Giving gives me joy. One of the ways I give joy is doing our annual Christmas Party. I invite loads of people, including total strangers. People are delighted to be included, even when they can’t make it. I bake and cook for 2 weeks to prepare, only my son-in-law helps with a couple of entrees. It is so fun to see everyone enjoying themselves, with children underfoot, standing room only, and utter bedlam at times. I do hire a college friend to serve and clean up, so I can really enjoy the party too! It’s the highlight of my year.

How wonderful!!!! It reminds me of something… A mayor (can’t remember what city) does the same thing. Opens his home for meals a few times a year. So lovely!
