I took a lot of photos in November but I hadn’t even looked through them yet when I remembered that it’s time for Kat’s Photo-Heart Connection. This little gerber daisy is the first of its friends to peek up from dormancy in our backyard garden. Doesn’t it look like a little heart? I applied Kim Klassen‘s “evolve” texture and erased it over the main part of the flower.
I am drawn to photographing flowers, maybe because of the many intricacies and fine details. After I get close with a macro lens, I notice such amazing detail that I never knew was there. I’m sure it would be the same with anything else, even people, if only we would look more closely. For me right now, it is flowers that teach me about life, diversity, slowing down, and appreciating every detail. What is it for you?
Haven’t done it before? You can learn more about how to find your Photo-Heart Connection here.

This is my favorite quote! I have it in my kitchen right above the sink – that way I read it everyday!
I think I may need to do that too! New project… yay!
I like how you put it, noticing amazing details, and equate that to other things. It is so true! Each time we go out with our cameras and follow what catches our heart, we open ourselves up to seeing more of everything else in the world too. So glad to have you in the Photo-Heart Connection this month!
What an amazing little bud, yes, heart-shaped too. Photography, especially macros, can draw us in for wonderful details and teaches us so much about life in general.
Beautiful image & you’re right- I think taking photos does help you to become more observant. noticing all the details.
Flowers are a beautiful thing to teach us everything in life…

I feel the same way about taking macro shots of flowers. I find something new every time — even if it is a variety of flower I’ve photographed previously. Although I think I’ve read about Kim Klassen’s textures here before, I followed the link today. Wow! She has some gorgeous textures. I downloaded some and played today; posted one of my resulting images to my blog. Fun!
I’m so glad! I look forward to your new series!
What a wonderful quotation, perfect for Photo-Heart Connection. I too love macro photography of nature for the amazing detail it reveals. I love your little heart-shaped daisy.
Thank you! And I love your cheery fruit bowl!
Love your image and quote. Photography is the same for – encouraging me to slow down and notice the details.
Thank goodness for it. I’ve been enjoying some photos I took a few years ago of my daughter. Time passes but I still remember those precious moments and am so happy to have the pictures.
So very beautiful, love the quote too
Nicely done. Love the greens and yellows. And a perfect quote, too.
